1. Security, i.e. protection against

• attacks from outside (especially theft and extortion)
• attacks from inside the custodian (especially embezzlement)
• force majeure (especially [nuclear] war and natural disasters)
• owner's mistakes (especially key loss)

2. Privacy, i.e. protection of personal data through

• Strong privacy laws
• Minimal data collection

3. Sovereignty, i.e. access to assets also in case of

• Unavailability of custodian (especially during bankruptcy procedures or financial system meltdown)
• Government intervention

We have seen that no gold custody solution is fully able to meet all the requirements. There is always a trade-off between security and sovereignty.
